Canada's Original EV Company

Founded in 1995, CanEV is Canada’s longest-running electric vehicle manufacturer. We are 100% Canadian and Indigenous owned.

We specialize in practical electrification—building work-ready EVs, conversion kits, and modular components that simplify fleet decarbonization. Our systems are deployed globally in government fleets, universities, airports, and industry.

History

Our Story:
30 Years of Quiet Revolution

In 1995, before “net zero” was a buzzword and electric vehicles were anything but science fiction, Canadian Electric Vehicles was born in a small shop in Errington, British Columbia. We didn’t start with venture capital or flashy prototypes, we started with a belief: that clean, quiet, efficient vehicles could do real work in the real world and reduce costs

We called ourselves British Columbia’s original electric vehicle company, because we were. Our early years were spent building and converting what others thought impossible: electric service trucks, airport refuelers, and retrofitted classics running on sealed lead-acid batteries and handmade components. If it moved, we found a way to electrify it.

The Might-E Era Begins

Just one year in, we built something that would go on to define our company: the Might-E Truck. Rugged, simple, and fully electric, it was designed for work, not wow-factor. Universities, parks departments, and industrial sites took notice, and kept ordering. Over the next three decades, the Might-E Truck evolved from a lead-acid, DC-powered prototype into a modern lithium-powered, AC-drive utility vehicle, proudly built in Canada using North American parts.

Its DNA?
Still the same: field-repairable, easy to operate, and built for fleets that value durability over decoration.

Technology Without the Ego

When others focused on top speeds and luxury interiors, we focused on making Ice Resurfacers cleaner, hospital staff safer and more productive, and maintenance crews more efficient.

Built Here. Trusted Everywhere.

From B.C. to Japan, CanEV systems are at work around the world, on campuses, in city parks, inside tunnels, and across factory floors. We’ve stayed small on purpose, growing not by hype but by reputation, one well-built vehicle at a time.

As we enter our fourth decade, we’re still asking “What if?”—but now with a few more answers, a lot more torque, and an unwavering commitment to sustainable motion, proudly engineered in Canada.
